About the Transition movement

Transition is a worldwide movement of communities reimagining and rebuilding our world. It began small, in a primary school in Kinsale, Ireland, and took shape in Totnes, England. It now includes diverse groups of thinkers, doers, and creators on every continent on Earth. We gather locally to build resilience, share resources, raise limate change awareness, and transition to a sustainable, just, fulfilling life.

  • Transition Network: This worldwide nonprofit supports communities as they self-organize around the Transition model.

  • Transition United States:  A national hub for the people-powered groups who are building resilience through community action, this nonprofit trains, inspires, encourages, networks, and supports its member groups.

  • Transition Twin Cities:  A place to connect with other Transition (and like-minded) initiatives in our metro area. It's also a place to post a video of your own projects on the Twin Cities Transition YouTube channel.

  • Other videos and films include In Transition 2.0: A Story of Resilience and Hope in Extraordinary Times and Voices of Transition: A Documentary "Action" Movie for Community-Led Food Production.

  • Books include Rob Hopkins' From What Is to What If and The Transition Companion, and Shaun Chamberlin's Transition Timeline for a Local, Resilient Future.  Essential Guide: Click on the cover here to download this 64-page booklet.
